I am Patricia Nicholson, born in Liverpool. England.

Let me tell you a bit about myself.................

I have always been around dogs as my Mother bred German Shepherds or Alsatians as they were then called. My Father emigrated to New Zealand bringing me and my twin brothers with him. Unfortunately he died at an early age and eventually I went back to England and lived with my eldest brother in London. It was always my ambition to return to New Zealand which I eventually did when I was married.

I am now a permanent resident in New Zealand and have been here for many years - it is a great place to live.

Soon after arriving in New Zealand I became involved with dogs and took up showing Maltese. This subsequently led to breeding and I then embarked on a successful breeding programme with the Maltese and have now bred many Best in Show winners both in New Zealand and Australia. To achieve this I imported many dogs from England and America, combining the lines, and have now been breeding Maltese for over 30 years. Patrician Maltese have won many great awards in the USA, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, USA and Holland. The most famous of my dogs is "Phantom", who won Best in Show at the Sydney Royal 2001 and also Best in Show at the Sydney Spring Fair Classic.

His grandfather Aust/NZ Ch.Patrician Phandango also won the group both days at the Sydney Spring Fair a few years earlier. These dogs were handled in Australia by my good friends Peter and Tricia Cutler.

In addition to being a successful Maltese Breeder, I have also bred BIS winning Yorkshire Terriers for over 25 years and was responsible for introducing the breed known as Chinese Cresteds into New Zealand and getting the breed established here.

I have also been involved with Pomeranians with the late Betsy Litt and bred Pomeranians from Betsy's English imported lines.

Judging now plays a most important part of my life - a career which I takes most seriously. I have become known as a "Toy" Specialist judge. I have been privilegd to have judged many times in the USA ,Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, Buenos Airies, Argentina - Mendoza, and Cordoba in South America and Singapore.

Champions

Patrician Maltese to date have titled over 84 NZ Champions dating back to 1974 including 1 NZ and Australian Grand Champion (NZ GR CH & AUST GRD CH PATRICIAN PHANTOM).

Across the world, in New Zealand, Australia, USA and Sweden, there are numerous titled Patrician Maltese champions to be found.

Imported Maltese

Dating back to 1974, Patricia has imported many Maltese from overseas who have contributed to this kennel's success, and the people who bred them.

Over 50 years of breeding with imports from the USA, England, Australia, Japan and now Korea. I will keep adding as I find photographs - some are in black and white - these dogs set the standard for what this kennel is showing and breeding today.
